What are the commonly used drying methods for wooden cutting boards?

The most common drying methods are as follows:

1. Vacuum drying is the drying of wood under atmospheric pressure. The drying medium can be moist air, but mostly superheated steam. During vacuum drying, the water vapor pressure difference between the inside and outside of the wood increases, which speeds up the migration of moisture inside the wood.

2. Dehumidification and drying are the same as conventional drying, using atmospheric humid air as drying medium, and air convection heating wood. It has the advantages of energy saving, good drying quality and no pollution to the environment. However, dehumidification drying usually has the characteristics of low temperature, long drying cycle, relying on electric heating, and high power consumption, which affects its popularization and application.

There are also high temperature drying and conventional drying, and the drying medium can be moist air or superheated steam. The advantages of high temperature drying are fast drying speed, good dimensional stability and short cycle time. However, high temperature drying is prone to drying defects, the material becomes darker, the surface becomes hard, and it is not easy to process.
